Kyphosis is exaggerated forward curvature of your upper back. Some curvature is normal in the upper back but anything more than 50 degrees is abnormal and is termed 'kyphosis'.

This deformity is also more commonly called round back or hunch back. It can affect all ages.

Kyphosis can occur as a result of developmental problems; degenerative diseases, such as arthritis of the spine; osteoporosis with compression fractures of the vertebrae; or trauma to the spine.

Treatment for kyphosis depends on your age, the cause of the curvature and its effects.
