Xray

Xray is an important test to have as it shows bone very well. It can identify:

  • arthritis of the shoulder joint
  • arthritis of the AC joint
  • signs of rotator cuff tears
  • the shape of your acromion

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a good test to look for shoulder bursitis and rotator cuff tears. However, it is not perfect, with studies showing the accuracy can range from 60- 90%

MRI

MRI is the best but expensive test for rotator cuff tears and shoulder impingement. It is over 95% accurate.
