The symptoms of Osteoarthritis usually develop slowly and worsen over time.
The main symptom of Osteoarthritis is pain.
- Pain. The pain is worsened by movement. Initially, there will be little pain when at rest, but as the osteoarthritis worsens, you may even have pain whilst resting and trying to sleep.
The other symptoms of Osteoarthris are:
- Stiffness. You may find that your joint becomes increasingly stiff, especially in the morning or after a period of resting. You may find that you can't straighten or bend your joint as much as you use to.
- Cracking and Grating. You may hear or feel a grating sensation when you move your joint.
- Bone spurs. These hard lumps form on the side of the joint.
